Wedding season is in full swing in Malta, and amidst attending a few myself, I also get a fair few wedding gift commissions. This particular order was one of my favourite yet, as included two pieces which go together – first, a pair of embroidered pillowcases, and second, a set of six embroidered linen dinner napkins.
The client wanted to include the couple’s initials on both, and gave me a few pointers as to what they like (including the English rose as the bride’s favourite flower) and the colour scheme of their home. The end result was a monogram in floral-inspired lettering.
For the pillowcases, I included the couple’s would-be shared surname, while the napkin monogram featured the initials of their first names. The colours I ended up going for were a warm khaki for the pillowcase embroidery and an elegant light grey for the napkins, which I also sewed from scratch, using a thick cream linen. While not matching, I felt these two earthy tones complemented each other perfectly 🙂
After a very hectic few days of work (sometimes late into the night to meet my deadline!), I’m really happy with the way they turned out – particularly the napkins, as they’re a new item in my repertoire – and hope the couple love them as much as I do, and find them a welcome addition to their home.
